Questions

You answer them by listening. If you slip, we tell you where it is.

— Paul does not eat cheese (2); the two varieties appear in turn 5. Choose the chocolate biscuits. The cheese biscuits do not suit him, and he cannot eat both varieties.

Aucune autre bouteille. — There are three people: the speakers and Paul (2). The two bottles in turn 3 plus the friend’s bottle in turn 4 provide one each. Buying another is unnecessary; asking Paul for two invents a shortage.

— Paul has a glass and the speaker’s is broken (7); the friend has his own (8). One replacement is needed. Both guests already have glasses; buying three counts the existing glasses again.

— They need biscuits and a glass (5, 9). Lunch is at half past twelve (1), after the shop closes at noon (10). They must shop in the morning. During lunch and after the park, the shop will be closed.
