The way to the pool

CEFR A183 words

Questions

You answer them with the text in front of you. It isn't memory: it's understanding.

  1. According to what each cousin already has, why can Mina enter the pool even without putting a ticket in her bag?

— They are going swimming together and Tom has two tickets, one for each cousin. He therefore already has Mina’s ticket. The map shows the way rather than granting entry; another ticket is unnecessary because both are available.

  2. How is the message useful to Tom?

Tom peut garder son point d’attente. — Mina says she is taking the post-office route, where Tom is already waiting; he can stay there. The park is closed and Tom already has two tickets.

  3. Mina cannot find Tom at the post office. Which part of the preparation still depends on meeting him?

Le billet que Tom a pour elle. — Mina carries the map and towel; Tom has the two tickets, including hers.

  4. If Mina puts away the map before leaving home, what remains true on the way to the post office?

— Changing when she puts away the map does not change Tom waiting at the post office and Mina travelling there.

  5. Tom suggests waiting outside the park rather than the post office. What problem would this create for Mina’s chosen route?

— Mina announces the post-office route because the park is closed. If Tom waits at the park, the announced route and the meeting place no longer match. He would no longer be waiting at the post office, and the meeting would not move to the pool.

  6. What shared plan can they carry out after meeting?

Aller nager avec leurs billets. — The original destination is the pool; after meeting they have both tickets and continue towards it.
