Print (PDF)

Present tense, common nouns and adjectives, times and basic connectors. Use a dictionary if needed.

Model

Hola, Marta. Me llamo Daniel y vivo en Sevilla. Estudio español y me gusta el cine. Estoy libre el lunes a las seis. Podemos hablar de una película. ¿Dónde nos vemos? Un saludo, Daniel.
  1. Me llamo Daniel · The opening identifies the writer or the reader.
  2. Estoy libre el lunes a las seis. · This concrete detail makes the message specific.
  3. ¿Dónde nos vemos? · The ending gives the reader a clear action or question.

Task

Write in Spanish to your new language partner, Inés. You are Kim and live in Lima. Choose talking about music or books, and invent one personal preference. You are free on Thursday at five. Ask whether Inés likes the chosen topic.

20–40 words

Planning

  1. Who will read your text, and what do they need to know first?
  2. Note the facts you must keep and decide what information you will add.
  3. Plan the order of your ideas and a sentence for your decision or request.

Criteria

  1. Introduce yourself as Kim from Lima.

Identify the referent: the reader needs to know who or what you mean.

  2. Keep Thursday at five.

Keep the fact that lets the reader act without guessing.

  3. Choose music or books and add a personal preference.

Connect your decision to the need in this situation.

  4. Ask whether Inés likes that topic.

End with useful information for the next step.

Review

Keep your draft. Mark an improvement and explain why it helps the reader; if it already meets the criteria, identify and justify a specific check.
