Questions

You answer them with the text in front of you. It isn't memory: it's understanding.

  1. The woman checks the coat Andrés examined. What makes it a better match than Julia’s coat?

The gloves inside it — The woman describes gloves in the pockets; Andrés finds them in the bench coat. Julia wears black and keeps her phone in a bag.

  2. Why would Andrés give the woman a different coat from the one he is wearing?

The colours of the two coats differ — Andrés wears grey, while the woman asks for blue. Returning the matching coat does not mean handing over the one he wears.

  3. Julia needs her phone for the call. Where can she find it?

In the bag on the bench — Her phone is in her bag, and the final paragraph identifies the bag on the bench as hers. The inspected pocket contains gloves.

  4. While Julia calls her brother, the woman stands beside the man who checked the coat. Which colour is that man wearing?

The grey coat Andrés is wearing — Andrés is the person who checks the coat and stands beside the woman. He wears grey; blue is the coat he examines, not the one he wears.

  5. Julia puts her telephone into the coat still on the bench after she collects her bag. Which colour coat would now contain her phone?

The blue coat left on the bench — The bench holds the blue coat and Julia’s bag. After she removes her bag, placing the phone in the remaining coat puts it in blue, rather than in either coat being worn.

  6. Another blue coat appears, but its pockets are empty. Which coat still has stronger support as the woman’s?

The one Andrés checked — The original blue coat matches both colour and gloves. The new one matches only colour. Julia and Andrés wear different colours, so neither has the same combined support.
