The wrong parcel

CEFR A2119 words

Questions

You answer them with the text in front of you. It isn't memory: it's understanding.

  1. Copy the Spanish word: the narrator was expecting ___.

zapatillas — The expected purchase was trainers, which is why a very small box seemed unusual.

  2. Copy the Spanish word: the two people shared the same ___.

apellido — The shared surname, not the complete name, caused confusion.

  3. The wrong parcel was opened at home.

False — The label was checked before opening, and the box returned closed.

  4. Why did the employee initially confuse the parcels?

She read the surname, not the full name — Reading only the matching surname ignored the different full name and address.

  5. The narrator decides to wait until reaching home before checking future parcel labels.

False — The decision is to check before leaving the post office, earlier than on this occasion.

  6. What happened to the other person’s parcel at the end of the visit?

It remained at the post office for the person named on its label — The employee handed over the narrator’s own parcel and kept the other person’s parcel at the post office for its owner. The shelf held the narrator’s parcel before the employee found it; the two parcels did not go home together.
