Review

Als ich nach Hause kam, lag eine Nachricht im Briefkasten. Mein Paket war im Laden neben der Bäckerei abgegeben worden. Ich wollte es sofort abholen, aber der Laden hatte schon geschlossen. Am nächsten Morgen nahm ich meinen Ausweis mit. Die Verkäuferin suchte kurz im Regal und fand das Paket. Ich bedankte mich bei ihr, weil ich die Bücher für meinen Kurs brauchte.

  1. nach hause → nach Hause

«nach Hause»: A German noun retains its capital within a sentence; this is not merely a sentence-initial capital.

  2. Brief kasten → Briefkasten

«Briefkasten»: This compound is written as one word; separating its parts changes the noun’s spelling.

  3. Backerei → Bäckerei

«Bäckerei»: Retain the Umlaut in this form; it is part of German spelling and cannot be dropped as punctuation.

  4. abgegeben werden → abgegeben worden

«abgegeben worden»: The compound passive uses worden after the participle; werden and wurden are different forms.

  5. meinen ausweis → meinen Ausweis

«meinen Ausweis»: A German noun retains its capital within a sentence; this is not merely a sentence-initial capital.

  6. die Bucher → die Bücher

«die Bücher»: Retain the Umlaut in this form; it is part of German spelling and cannot be dropped as punctuation.

Compare heard words separately from spelling. There is no automatic score. Alternative standard punctuation preserving relationships and meaning is acceptable; a different comma does not imply a misheard word. Then review capitals and diacritics against the model.

Retain all words, their order, articles, prepositions and endings. Do not substitute synonyms or expand contractions. The six notes illustrate revision: compare the entire text, not only those six points.

This text has no apostrophes; retain Umlaut, ß and noun capitals.
