The idea
Wenn P, dann Q presents Q under P without claiming that P is the only route to Q.

falls retains a possible condition without claiming that it holds. Sonst introduces the alternative on failure: Reserviere, sonst bekommst du hier keinen Platz. Preserve the negated condition without inventing an actual booking.
An initial conditional occupies the main clause’s first field: Falls du Zeit hast, ruf mich an. Test meaning by finding a compatible case that defeats an added conclusion. Indicative mood does not turn a hypothesis into an observed fact.

What your own language pushes you to say
Wrong Ein leuchtendes Kontrolllicht beweist einen vollen Akku.

Context: a full battery lights the indicator, but mains power can also light it. The light does not prove that the battery is full.
Transfer to a new case
Solve the new case in German and justify the decisions. Check against the criteria, not just the model wording. Laborregel: Zugang gibt es nur bei gültiger Freigabe. Eine Freigabe allein reicht nicht, weil zusätzlich eine Aufsicht anwesend sein muss. Fehlt die Aufsicht, bleibt die Tür zu. Schreibe eine Warnung mit sonst und einen Satz mit nur wenn. Erkläre, warum eine Freigabe keine Öffnung beweist.
