The library of things

CEFR B1205 words

Questions

You answer them with the text in front of you. It isn't memory: it's understanding.

  1. Why did the proposal interest the narrator?

The tools were needed infrequently — The box was stored and barely opened again. Lending rarely used objects responds to that experience; daily use and furniture sales are not stated.

  2. A tool is found damaged before a loan. What information does the required check provide?

Que el daño existía antes de llevársela. — Checking before collection establishes its prior condition. It does not assign later damage to a borrower or settle repair costs, which remain a concern.

  3. Borrowers will have to pay a lending fee.

False — The loan will be “gratuito”: free. Possible repair costs are a separate unresolved issue.

  4. What does postponing the sewing machine show?

They want to settle repair risks before lending complex objects — The machine waits until repair expenses are agreed. Starting with simple objects limits risk while the project is tested; it does not reject all sharing.

  5. Which result is still uncertain at the end?

Whether objects come back on time — The last sentence leaves timely returns for next month’s review. Ownership of the box and Marta’s attendance are already established.

  6. The narrator takes the toolbox home after the meeting.

False — “Quedó en el centro” means it stayed at the centre. The narrator leaves without it.
