El tren a Girona (The train to Girona)

MCER A2133 palabras

Last April my friend Paula and I went to Girona for the day. The train left Barcelona at half past eight and arrived forty minutes later.

We had a plan: the cathedral first, then lunch, then the old streets. We did not follow the plan. We walked into a narrow street with red and yellow houses, and we stayed there for an hour.

At two o'clock we were hungry, but we did not have much money. We bought bread, cheese and two oranges, and we ate on the steps of the cathedral. It was better than a restaurant.

We took some photos, but the best ones are not in my phone. They are in my head: the colours of the houses over the river, and Paula laughing with her mouth full of orange.

Preguntas

Se contestan con el texto delante. No es memoria: es entender.

  1. How long was the train journey?

Forty minutes — Salió a las ocho y media y llegó forty minutes later. Half past eight es la hora de salida, no la duración.

  2. They followed their plan.

False — Falso, y lo dice con todas las letras: we did NOT follow the plan. Se quedaron una hora en una calle.

  3. For lunch they ate bread, cheese and two ___.

oranges — We bought bread, cheese and two oranges: pan, queso y dos naranjas.

  4. Why did they eat on the steps of the cathedral?

Because they did not have enough money for a restaurant — Las dos ideas van seguidas: tenían hambre PERO no tenían mucho dinero. Por eso compran comida y se sientan fuera.

  5. Why did they stay in the narrow street for an hour?

Because they liked the colourful houses — El texto no da el motivo. Lo pones tú: lo único que describe de esa calle son las casas rojas y amarillas, y al final las vuelve a nombrar como su mejor recuerdo.

  6. What does the writer mean by 'the best ones are in my head'?

That the best memories of the day are not in the photos — Opone el móvil a la cabeza: las fotos existen, pero lo que de verdad se guarda son los colores y a Paula riéndose. No habla de otro teléfono.
