  1. What do they finally decide to try?

Two late evenings for a month — El ensayo de dos tardes durante un mes sustituye la propuesta de abrir hasta las ocho todos los días.

  2. The proposed late evenings are Tuesday and ___.

Thursday — A propone Tuesday and Thursday por la organización del personal.

  3. B questions how well the survey represents all residents.

True — La mayoría de respuestas procede de usuarios de las mesas de estudio; B distingue ese grupo de todos los vecinos.

  4. Why would the library open later on the trial mornings?

To keep within the budget — A relaciona retrasar una hora la apertura con mantenerse dentro del presupuesto, no con reducir la demanda.

  5. A noon visit is enough to show demand for evening opening.

False — B dice que devolver un libro al mediodía informa poco sobre la demanda vespertina y pide contar esas visitas aparte.

Ábrela cuando ya lo hayas intentado: leerla antes convierte esto en una lectura.

A The survey says people want the library open later. Shall we move closing time to eight every day?

B I wouldn't go that far yet. Most replies came from people who already use the study desks, not from all residents.

A But they are the people likely to come in the evening.

B Possibly. Still, a popular request isn't the same as actual attendance. Could we try two late evenings for a month?

A Tuesday and Thursday would suit the staffing schedule. We'd have to open an hour later on those mornings to stay within our budget.

B Then make that trade-off clear. Otherwise the morning users will think they've simply lost a service.

A Should we count every visit as support for the trial?

B Count evening visits separately, and ask whether people came because of the new hours. Someone returning a book at noon tells us little about evening demand.

A So we'll announce the trial, explain the later morning opening, and review the figures after four weeks.

B Yes. If the evenings are quiet, that won't mean nobody values the library. It will mean this particular timetable needs another look.
