La caja de semillas (The seed box)

MCER B1246 palabras

On Saturday, Noor stopped at a seed box outside the community hall. A sign said, “Take a packet. Leave a packet if you can.” She wanted to grow herbs at home, but she had no seeds to leave. She read the sign again and walked away.

Later, Pavel asked Noor why she had not taken anything. She explained that she thought she needed to bring a packet first. Pavel said the second sentence was an invitation, not a rule. Other visitors had made the same mistake, so they wrote a clearer sign together: “You may take seeds even if you have none to give.”

Some packets had only a plant name on them. Noor suggested adding cards with simple notes from the people who had grown the plants. Pavel agreed, but he asked them not to promise that every plant would grow well in every home. A sunny window worked for one person; another home might be different.

The next week Noor brought paper envelopes and helped write the cards. She still had no seeds to donate. Pavel did not keep a list of who took or gave packets; he wanted people to ask questions rather than worry about owing something.

One visitor paused at the new sign and asked if taking a packet was really free. Noor showed her the words “even if you have none to give”. Noor realised that a full box meant little if people did not feel welcome to use it.

Preguntas

Se contestan con el texto delante. No es memoria: es entender.

  1. Why did Noor walk away from the box at first?

She thought taking seeds required giving some first.

  2. What would probably have happened if Pavel had kept the first sign?

Visitors with nothing to give might have kept away.

  3. Which claim would Pavel be least willing to put on a card?

These seeds will grow well in every home.

  4. What does Noor's work the next week show?

Helping the box can include work other than donating seeds.

  5. Which rule would fit Pavel's way of running the box?

Taking seeds does not create a debt.

  6. What does Noor learn from the visitor at the end?

A resource needs a welcoming invitation as well as supplies.
