Last April my friend Paula and I went to Girona for the day. The train left Barcelona at half past eight and arrived forty minutes later.
We had a plan: the cathedral first, then lunch, then the old streets. We did not follow the plan. We walked into a narrow street with red and yellow houses, and we stayed there for an hour.
At two o'clock we were hungry, but we did not have much money. We bought bread, cheese and two oranges, and we ate on the steps of the cathedral. It was better than a restaurant.
We took some photos, but the best ones are not in my phone. They are in my head: the colours of the houses over the river, and Paula laughing with her mouth full of orange.

Because they did not have enough money for a restaurant — Le due idee sono di seguito: avevano fame MA non avevano molti soldi. Per questo comprano da mangiare e si siedono fuori.

Because they liked the colourful houses — Il testo non dà il motivo. Lo deduci tu: l'unica cosa che descrive di quella via sono le case rosse e gialle, e alla fine le nomina di nuovo come il suo ricordo migliore.
What does the writer mean by 'the best ones are in my head'?
That the best memories of the day are not in the photos — Contrappone il telefono alla testa: le foto ci sono, ma quello che resta davvero sono i colori e Paula che ride. Non parla di un altro telefono.
