Comparar fontes e limites

  3. Conserve no resumo uma conclusão sustentada e uma questão aberta.

Duas fontes, um novo texto

Two fictional school/community documents, written in English for this activity. Source A: School poll: Students in the choir chose a song for their rehearsal. The organiser reported a preference within that group. Source B: Newsletter draft: The chosen song is the school's favourite. Other students were not invited to answer the choir poll.

  1. A primeira fonte estabelece o ponto de partida: School poll: Students in the choir chose a song for their rehearsal. The organiser reported a preference within that group.
  2. A segunda introduz a precisão que precisa acompanhar a informação: Newsletter draft: The chosen song is the school's favourite. Other students were not invited to answer the choir poll.
  3. A revisão conserva a relação entre ambas: A choice within the choir does not establish a preference across the whole school.

The choir selected the song for rehearsal; the poll did not ask the rest of the school.

Concluir e extrapolar

  • Versão que amplia o alcance

The choir poll identifies the whole school's favourite song.

  • Versão que preserva o caso

The choir selected the song for rehearsal; the poll did not ask the rest of the school.

Uma frase isolada não fecha o caso

The choir poll identifies the whole school's favourite song.

The choir selected the song for rehearsal; the poll did not ask the rest of the school.

Conclusão verificável: A choice within the choir does not establish a preference across the whole school.

Fonte A: Museum visit notice: School groups enter through the side gate at the time on their confirmation. The main gate is for individual visitors; group leaders must bring the confirmation. Fonte B: Leader's email: Our confirmation is for the afternoon, but the bus can arrive in the morning. Reception can change a booking only after checking available group slots.

Resposta: Transport availability does not amend admission arrangements. → Ask reception to approve a different group slot.; The notice assigns different entrances to different visitor categories. → Use the main entrance under the individual arrangements.; The collective visit retains both its schedule and its access route. → Bring its confirmation to the side entrance at the stated time.

Ask reception to approve a different group slot. Transport availability does not amend admission arrangements. Bring its confirmation to the side entrance at the stated time. The collective visit retains both its schedule and its access route. Use the main entrance under the individual arrangements. The notice assigns different entrances to different visitor categories.

Fonte A: Festival notice: A free ticket gives access to the courtyard performances. The indoor workshop needs a separate reservation because its room has limited capacity. Fonte B: Student message: I have a courtyard ticket and want to attend the indoor workshop. My friend has reserved the workshop but has not collected a courtyard ticket.

Resposta: Entitlements cannot be pooled to grant both people both kinds of entry. → Complete the missing arrangement for each person.; General event access does not create a place in a capacity-limited room. → Request the separately controlled booking.; An indoor registration does not supply the other access document. → Collect the corresponding free ticket.

Request the separately controlled booking. General event access does not create a place in a capacity-limited room. Collect the corresponding free ticket. An indoor registration does not supply the other access document. Complete the missing arrangement for each person. Entitlements cannot be pooled to grant both people both kinds of entry.

Fonte A: Garden invitation: New volunteers can join the planting session after an induction. Experienced volunteers who completed the site induction may prepare the soil while newcomers attend it. Fonte B: Coordinator's note: Knowing how to garden does not replace our site induction. The tool cupboard is opened by a trained supervisor, who is attending the induction today. Afirmação a revisar: “Experienced visitors can skip the site induction and open the tool cupboard.”

  • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: Your aim is to inform readers clearly. I suggest this revision: Experienced visitors still need the site induction, and a trained supervisor opens the tool cupboard. Before extending it, check this point: The texts do not give the induction's duration.

Contraste de evidências: Garden invitation: New volunteers can join the planting session after an induction. Experienced volunteers who completed the site induction may prepare the soil while newcomers attend it. / Coordinator's note: Knowing how to garden does not replace our site induction. The tool cupboard is opened by a trained supervisor, who is attending the induction today. Aplicação ao caso: Being skilled at gardening is different from having completed the site's induction.

Fonte A: Film club poster: Friday's discussion welcomes visitors. The film has English dialogue and English subtitles; a Portuguese plot summary is available before the screening. Fonte B: Visitor message: I can read short English texts, but fast dialogue is difficult. The summary describes the plot and does not reproduce the discussion questions or every line of dialogue. Afirmação a revisar: “The summary provides a Portuguese translation of the complete screening and discussion.”

    • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: For students new to this activity: Read the summary beforehand and use the subtitles, allowing for remaining difficulties. The visitor reports difficulty with fast dialogue, but the texts do not specify what further support they need for the discussion.

The film has English dialogue and English subtitles; a Portuguese plot summary is available before the screening. / Visitor message: I can read short English texts, but fast dialogue is difficult. The summary describes the plot and does not reproduce the discussion questions or every line of dialogue. Aplicação ao caso: A plot outline and same-language subtitles support different aspects of understanding.

Fonte A: Book exchange notice: Bring books with complete pages. Notes in the margins are acceptable if the text is readable; damaged covers do not prevent an exchange. Fonte B: Desk note: A student has a book with a torn cover, readable annotations and all its pages. Another book looks new, but its final chapter has missing pages. The desk checks completeness before appearance. Afirmação a revisar: “The newer-looking book is eligible because its cover is intact.”

    • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: The annotated copy meets the completeness rule; the neat copy lacks the required pages. Does any participant want this complete annotated title? The notice does not state which titles participants prefer.

O pedido precisa nomear o dado ausente e explicar qual decisão depende dele. Contraste de evidências: Book exchange notice: Bring books with complete pages. Notes in the margins are acceptable if the text is readable; damaged covers do not prevent an exchange. / Desk note: A student has a book with a torn cover, readable annotations and all its pages. Another book looks new, but its final chapter has missing pages. The desk checks completeness before appearance. Aplicação ao caso: A worn exterior can meet the exchange rule better than an incomplete new-looking copy.

Fonte A: Exhibition invitation: Students may submit photos they took. A photo showing an identifiable person needs that person's permission for the exhibition. Fonte B: Editor note: Permission to display a photo at school does not include permission to publish it on the public website. The same photo is being considered for both places. Afirmação a revisar: “A student's own exhibition photo can be posted online using the existing school consent.”

    • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: Imagine consent covering the school exhibition but no public website use: the photographer’s authorship would not extend the pictured person’s consent. The right to submit one's own photo does not settle consent from people pictured in it.

Contraste de evidências: Exhibition invitation: Students may submit photos they took. A photo showing an identifiable person needs that person's permission for the exhibition. / Editor note: Permission to display a photo at school does not include permission to publish it on the public website. The same photo is being considered for both places. Aplicação ao caso: The right to submit one's own photo does not settle consent from people pictured in it.

Fonte A: Peer support notice: Mentors can help students plan a draft and explain feedback. They cannot grade assignments or submit work on another student's behalf. Fonte B: Student request: My draft is unfinished, and I need help deciding which feedback to use. I also want the mentor to send the final assignment directly to the teacher. Afirmação a revisar: “The mentor can grade my unfinished draft and send it to the teacher after our meeting.”

    • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: The criterion is whether the proposed statement preserves the conditions and scope of both documents. Accepting revision support does not transfer authorship or submission responsibility. The mentor can help interpret feedback and plan revisions; I must submit my work, and grading remains outside the mentor's role. The notice does not say which changes the teacher will prefer.

Contraste de evidências: Peer support notice: Mentors can help students plan a draft and explain feedback. They cannot grade assignments or submit work on another student's behalf. / Student request: My draft is unfinished, and I need help deciding which feedback to use. I also want the mentor to send the final assignment directly to the teacher. Aplicação ao caso: Accepting revision support does not transfer authorship or submission responsibility.
