Comparar fontes e limites

  3. Conserve no resumo uma conclusão sustentada e uma questão aberta.

Duas fontes, um novo texto

Two fictional school/community documents, written in English for this activity. Source A: Consultation record: People who attended a weekday meeting supported the proposed exhibition theme. Source B: Organiser note: Weekend volunteers could not attend and have offered written responses. Those responses have not yet been included in the summary.

  1. A primeira fonte estabelece o ponto de partida: Consultation record: People who attended a weekday meeting supported the proposed exhibition theme.
  2. A segunda introduz a precisão que precisa acompanhar a informação: Organiser note: Weekend volunteers could not attend and have offered written responses. Those responses have not yet been included in the summary.
  3. A revisão conserva a relação entre ambas: A meeting result and a consultation including absent volunteers are not the same evidence base.

Report the attendees' support and include the weekend volunteers' responses before claiming wider agreement.

Concluir e extrapolar

  • Versão que amplia o alcance

The meeting record establishes agreement among all volunteers on the exhibition theme.

  • Versão que preserva o caso

Report the attendees' support and include the weekend volunteers' responses before claiming wider agreement.

Uma frase isolada não fecha o caso

The meeting record establishes agreement among all volunteers on the exhibition theme.

Report the attendees' support and include the weekend volunteers' responses before claiming wider agreement.

Conclusão verificável: A meeting result and a consultation including absent volunteers are not the same evidence base.

Fonte A: Campaign dashboard: The school safety message was viewed many times. It encouraged students to report unsafe crossings through a form. Fonte B: Evaluation note: The dashboard counts views rather than distinct students. The form has no recorded reports yet, and the team has not measured changes in crossing behaviour.

Resposta: One person can contribute more than one recorded viewing. → Distinguish exposure events from unique recipients.; Message exposure is different from the target behaviour. → Observe changes in how people actually cross.; An absent report does not identify why nothing was submitted. → Investigate obstacles to sending information.

Distinguish exposure events from unique recipients. One person can contribute more than one recorded viewing. Investigate obstacles to sending information. An absent report does not identify why nothing was submitted. Observe changes in how people actually cross. Message exposure is different from the target behaviour.

Fonte A: Project page: A report's first edition described the trial as completed. A revised edition says one site still needs inspection and links to a dated correction note. Fonte B: Partner summary: A translated paragraph still says the trial was completed everywhere. Its editor consulted the revised page but kept an older saved paragraph to shorten the translation task.

Resposta: A remaining task prevents the claim from covering every location. → Keep that exception when describing completion.; Traceability requires an inspectable link between versions. → Preserve access to the dated correction record.; A correct reference cannot repair outdated content. → Revise the words to match the edition actually cited.

Revise the words to match the edition actually cited. A correct reference cannot repair outdated content. Keep that exception when describing completion. A remaining task prevents the claim from covering every location. Preserve access to the dated correction record. Traceability requires an inspectable link between versions.

Fonte A: Campaign brief: More residents used our repair service this year than last year. The service also operated in more neighbourhoods this year. Fonte B: Evaluation memo: The brief compares total users, but the team wants to claim a higher participation rate among people served. The number of eligible residents in each year has not been supplied. Afirmação a revisar: “A larger user total proves that a higher proportion of eligible residents participated.”

  • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: Your aim is to inform readers clearly. I suggest this revision: The total number of users increased while coverage expanded; obtain the eligible population for each year before claiming a higher participation rate. Before extending it, check this point: The documents do not show how many eligible residents lived in the covered areas in either year.

Contraste de evidências: Campaign brief: More residents used our repair service this year than last year. The service also operated in more neighbourhoods this year. / Evaluation memo: The brief compares total users, but the team wants to claim a higher participation rate among people served. The number of eligible residents in each year has not been supplied. Aplicação ao caso: A higher numerator across wider coverage does not establish a higher individual participation rate.

Fonte A: Transport campaign: Our plan aims to reduce school-run congestion. The proposed walking routes depend on volunteer guides, and their availability has not been confirmed. Fonte B: Draft public announcement: Guided routes will start next week. The school committee has approved route planning, but has not approved an operating schedule or named guides. Afirmação a revisar: “Planning approval confirms next week's guided launch and its congestion reduction.”

    • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: For students new to this activity: Announce the planning goal and make launch timing conditional on guides and schedule approval. The texts do not establish when volunteers or an operating schedule will be confirmed.

Contraste de evidências: Transport campaign: Our plan aims to reduce school-run congestion. The proposed walking routes depend on volunteer guides, and their availability has not been confirmed. / Draft public announcement: Guided routes will start next week. The school committee has approved route planning, but has not approved an operating schedule or named guides. Aplicação ao caso: A desired outcome, planning authorization and permission to operate are separate commitments.

Fonte A: Local post: A park will close for the whole term, according to a screenshot of a draft maintenance memo. Two other accounts repeat the same screenshot as confirmation. Fonte B: Park office response: The draft discussed one section of the park and has not become an approved closure notice. The reposts cite no source other than that same image. Afirmação a revisar: “Three accounts independently confirm a whole-park closure for the term.”

    • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: Repetition shows circulation of the draft image, without independent confirmation of a closure. Does an approved maintenance notice specify a whole-park closure for the term? The response does not establish the final maintenance arrangement.

O pedido precisa nomear o dado ausente e explicar qual decisão depende dele. Contraste de evidências: Local post: A park will close for the whole term, according to a screenshot of a draft maintenance memo. Two other accounts repeat the same screenshot as confirmation. / Park office response: The draft discussed one section of the park and has not become an approved closure notice. The reposts cite no source other than that same image. Aplicação ao caso: Multiple reports based on one draft do not supply multiple independent decisions.

Fonte A: Student editorial: An early opening of the study room could help students with morning bus arrivals. The proposal relies on a staff member being available before regular classes. Fonte B: Staff response: We support extra study time, but no early-duty shift is funded. A later session is staffed, though it does not meet the morning travellers' stated need. Afirmação a revisar: “Staff reject extra study time, and the later session fully replaces the requested morning access.”

    • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: Imagine the staffed afternoon room being useful to other pupils while morning travellers still have no early access: a viable alternative would not meet their stated time need. Acknowledging a practical objection can refine a proposal without changing its beneficiaries' need.

Contraste de evidências: Student editorial: An early opening of the study room could help students with morning bus arrivals. The proposal relies on a staff member being available before regular classes. / Staff response: We support extra study time, but no early-duty shift is funded. A later session is staffed, though it does not meet the morning travellers' stated need. Aplicação ao caso: Acknowledging a practical objection can refine a proposal without changing its beneficiaries' need.

Fonte A: Interview extract: A resident says, 'Some families joined the new project; others are still considering it.' The interviewer spoke to one resident and recorded no household survey. Fonte B: English press draft: The neighbourhood has joined the project. Its editor wants a brief sentence for visiting readers but must retain the interview's attribution and uncertainty. Afirmação a revisar: “The interview establishes that the neighbourhood has joined and that other families have refused.”

    • Preserva alcance, condições, referentes e qualquer incerteza pertinente.

Resposta: The criterion is whether the proposed statement preserves the conditions and scope of both documents. Conciseness must not erase the source's partial scope, attribution or unresolved positions. According to one resident, some families joined the project while others are still considering it; the interview does not establish a neighbourhood-wide decision. The interview does not measure the number or proportion of families in either situation.

Contraste de evidências: Interview extract: A resident says, 'Some families joined the new project; others are still considering it.' The interviewer spoke to one resident and recorded no household survey. / English press draft: The neighbourhood has joined the project. Its editor wants a brief sentence for visiting readers but must retain the interview's attribution and uncertainty. Aplicação ao caso: Conciseness must not erase the source's partial scope, attribution or unresolved positions.
