MCER C1

Qué vas a aprender

En un texto de nivel alto, He said that… casi desaparece.

Con that y una frase entera: claim, admit, deny, point out, argue, insist, explain, complain. He claimed that the data were incomplete. Ojo: explain y point out nunca llevan objeto de persona directamente. Se dice explain to me, no «explain me».

She urged him to reconsider.

Con -ing, a veces con preposición: admit, deny, suggest, recommend; y accuse somebody of, blame somebody for, apologise for, insist on, congratulate somebody on. He denied taking the money. They accused her of falsifying the report. She refused to comment.

He admitted stealing it apunta al hecho; He admitted that he had stolen it distancia y suena más a declaración formal.

  1. Usa esta imagen

Complete the fixed pattern: 'The audit blamed the delay ___ incomplete records.'

on — Blame something on something fija la causa atribuida; no es el patrón blame somebody for doing.

  2. Usa esta imagen

The source accepts a weakness that complicates its own argument. Choose the most precise verb.

the authors concede that the sample was unusually small — Concede reconoce un punto desfavorable como válido.

  3. Usa esta imagen

Choose the grammatically complete pattern with urge.

the mediator urged both sides to resume talks — Urge en este patrón exige objeto humano y to-infinitive.

  • Say y tell no se intercambian: tell exige persona y say la rechaza sin to.He told me the truth. / He said that it was true.
She suggested that he apply again. (no «suggested him to apply»)
He warned that the bridge was unsafe. / He warned us not to cross.
The witness claims to have seen the car.

Se dice mal He explained me that he had denied to take the money.

Se dice bien He explained to me that he had denied taking the money.
