El subjuntivo inglés: I suggest that he be told

MCER C1

Qué vas a aprender

The board demands that he resign. She insisted that the report be rewritten. Ni resigns ni is: la forma base.

La lista se extiende a los adjetivos y sustantivos de la misma familia: It is essential that everyone be present. There was a proposal that the rule be changed.

La negativa se hace sin auxiliar, poniendo not delante del verbo: We recommend that he not travel alone.

I suggest that he should resign.

Con subjuntivo mandan algo —He insisted that she leave—, pero con indicativo describen un hecho —He insisted that she was lying—.

If I were you, I'd accept. He talks as if he were the boss.

  • The committee recommends that the deadline be extended.Be, no is: la forma base, aunque el sujeto sea singular y la principal esté en presente.
  • It is essential that every student have access to the library.Have, sin -s.
  • We ask that visitors not use flash photography.Negativa sin auxiliar: not va directamente delante del verbo.
  • He insisted that she was lying.
  • If I were in your position, I would decline.

  1. Usa esta imagen

Complete the mandative clause: 'The chair requested that every appendix ___ before circulation.'

be checked — La pasiva mandativa usa be + participio, sin tiempo ni concordancia personal.

  2. Usa esta imagen

    Choose the negative mandative form.

the doctor recommended that Lio not drive that evening — La negativa coloca not delante de la forma base; recommend no admite objeto + infinitivo.

  3. Usa esta imagen

In 'She insisted that the receipt was genuine', what does insisted do?

it reports an assertion, so the indicative describes the claimed fact — Aquí insist significa sostener que algo es verdad; no activa una acción mandativa.

I suggest that he should apply. / I suggest that he apply.
  • Suggest y recommend no admiten objeto más infinitivo: no se dice «suggest me to go».He suggested going by train. / He suggested that we go by train.
She insisted on paying for dinner.
God save the King. Be that as it may. Suffice it to say…

Se dice mal I suggest you to call him and that he calls me back.

Se dice bien I suggest that you call him and that he call me back.
